The Prince L. Jarbo Foundation (JARF) and the Liberian Youth Action Network for Sustainable Development (LYANSUD) are partnering to operate a Coronavirus Call & Data Center. The partnership aims to achieve two specific objectives. Firstly, to inform the public in order to contain the spread of the pandemic. Our targets are people in rural Liberia affected by the virus who information from health authorities like WHO, CDC, or NPHIL isn't easily accessible due to poor or no internet connectivity services. The decision to provide such information is based on the amount of initial disbelief of the virus there was. Many people thought and still think that this pandemic is all a scandal or the government's way of soliciting money from the West, as they felt with the Ebola crisis. Consequently, our goal is to inform these groups of people in rural areas so that their disbeliefs can be lessened, and are therefore able to assist in flattening the curve of the virus.
Our second objective is to gather necessary data from our respondents to relay to other nonprofits, government agencies, or individuals looking for ways to assist those affected by the virus. The Call Center portion is helping to inform the public in areas affected by the virus about its signs & symptoms, preventive measures, and ways they can get immediate help for life-threatening situations. Volunteers work Monday - Friday calling about 250 respondents across Liberia every week. The respondents are asked a few questions about their knowledge of the virus, how it's impacting them, and ways they believe they could be empowered. Our Data Analysis Team then compiles and analyzes the data to enable other frontline organizations, government agencies, or individuals to effectively combat COVID-19 based on the data gathered from those immediately affected by the virus.
Information disseminated and gathered by our volunteers is vital in combating COVID-19 because it answers questions like "who, where, and what" needs to be done. Therefore, we believe that partnerships are indispensable in eradicating the Coronavirus. Hence we are teaming up LYANSUD to fight COVID-19. By the same token, we humbly encourage all interested parties to use the data provided below to find meaningful ways to assist those in desperate need in the fight against the unseen enemy.
